There's growing interest in XML Web Services and the business opportunities provided by this new technology framework. Econiverse believes that XML Web Services offer immediate opportunites for cost savings and improvement in systems integration processes. Longer term, XML Web Services may enable a wide range of new online functions, and lower cost and with more rapid roll-out than has been possible up to this time. because of this, Econiverse has made a major commitment to XML: we're actively developing XML websites and web-based applications, and implementing systems integration projects using XML for our clients.
What are XML Web Services? To begin, XML is a universal data language that allows information hosted on a different platforms to move back and forth efficiently and reliably. With XML, disparate systems and applications—including everything from legacy applications running on the mainframe to UNIX-based Oracle databases to Windows 2000-based ASP applications—can "talk to each other" and exchange data. XML Web services go a step further, allowing a single website to offer access to multiple online applications running on remote systems, regardless of platform. For users, the experience is "transparent"—they gain access to a host of varied functions, including eCommerce applications—and transaction data passes reliably from one back-end database to another through common XML protocols.
Although XML "runs" on virtually any platform, it must be noted that Microsoft has made significant strides in creating a complete development and hosting environment for XML Web Services. The Microsoft .NET framework offers Visual Studio .NET, a complete development and runtime environment, and also the wide range of Enterprise Server products, including SQL Server 2000, Commerce Server, Portal Server, BizTalk Server and other components. Econiverse develops XML websites, web applications, and Web Services using Visual Studio .NET, and offers hosting on our high-performance Windows 2000 servers.

.NET experiences are XML Web services that allow businesses and individuals to access online information in a way that saves time and money. For example, Microsoft is transitioning MSN®, bCentral™, Passport, and Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET into .NET experiences, making world-class user authentication services easily available to any site builder. |
